Due to being an innovative and collaborative effort in Scotland a senior member of the Scottish Governments Exporting Arm, Scottish Development International (SDI) sat on the board. Prior to this organisation being created, my previous company Navitas Compliance/Texo Compliance was awarded a contract to conduct a feasibility study. This study was the basis on which STEP was created, where we conducted a skills gap analysis in Tanzania and Uganda. I was one of the leads in conducting this study and wrote a report of Vocational/Technical Skills training that was required in regards to Oil and Gas onshore pipeline/construction projects. The study was commissioned by the members and Scottish Development International (SDI), whereby a strategy and consortium was created on the basis of the extensive report which involved engagement of senior members of SE/SDI, UK DIT, and all the stakeholders in this projects including vocational and skills training institutions, and senior personnel of International Oil Companies (IOC)'s .
