Working at Newmore, has been and is continuing to be incredibly insightful into the world of private equity, as I shadow the Directors at Newmore Capital. This internship has shown me how the theory is applied to real life situations whether that be done through planning or in an instant during a meeting. While here, I have been heavily focused on Mergers and Acquisitions, which is the firm’s primary business, this has shown me the excitement and thrill of the processes involved, from coffee chats to negotiating. Furthermore, since beginning I have used their passion for business growth to inspire me into looking at how I can apply new methods or techniques, to then present to the founders of a company. This internship gave a general overview of the accounting industry. During this experience I participate in learning to understand financial statements and look at where mistakes can be made when completing tax forms in the UK. Furthermore, the internship taught me about how modern technology is being adopted, such as drones, which can be used for carrying out stock counts in coal mines.
