My specific project is centered on improving part of the pipeline for automatic detection of a particular type of repetitive DNA element, which has certain structural features. Currently, I am implementing a variational Bayesian approach to detect these features in the raw data.

Austria Statistical analysis of large-scale population genomics data sets. Analysis of spatial genetic correlations to determine patterns of genetic variation associated with environmental/fitness variables (for example disease resistance) in wild relatives of a cultivated, economically-important crop plant. Results were used to improve breeding of the cultivated species.
