I was part of - what one might call - an awkward transition to Student Affairs - and a newly appointed Executive Director of Career Services. This office had been housed in 2-3 departments in as many years, so joining Student Affairs was exciting and nerve wracking. I will never forget how warm and welcoming Jamie was to me as I joined the same department as her. Always smiling, she was sophisticated in her understanding of our complex organization and kind in helping me find my way - both physically around campus and between and among all the personalities. I knew I could have confidential conversations with her, asking her advice, and she would keep things safe between us. When I first started in Career Services, I had little staff, and was staring down a long path of preparation for the fall career fair - a university wide event with endless logistics. Jamie offered her help with no hesitation, and was a true partner in getting it all done. There were so many details I didn't have to think about - Jamie just handled it. She not only helped me execute a critical event for our students and employer partners, but as importantly, she brought me peace of mind. I remember Jamie always answered my call, made herself available to help, had something funny or lighthearted to say ... and I watched how effortlessly she interacted with our students. I always looked forward to bumping into her on campus, and knew she was a reliable partner. I would find a way to work with Jamie again in a heartbeat!
