During my PhD I developed tests to detect circulating tumour DNA in blood from cancer patients. I demonstrated that these tests were effective, reliable and could be implemented in the clinic. Please refer to my thesis and peer-reviewed publications at the bottom of this page to learn more about my contribution to the field of translational circulating tumour DNA detection. During my time at the Viapath DNA Laboratory, I performed molecular genetic analysis of DNA and RNA from tissue samples referred by clinics in the South East London Region. I was responsible for organising and performing a diverse range of laboratory assays followed by data analysis and reporting, all to ISO quality standards. The majority of my work involved diagnostic testing of DNA from symptomatic individuals or determining the risk of asympomatic individuals with a family history of a genetic disease. I was also heavily involved in Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis - screening of embryos for genetic variants responsible for pathologies in family members. Show less
