Beck Mayberry
James Mackey is an exceptional individual, both as a leader in the commercial business segment of the energy industry, and as a person of character and congeniality. While at Dynegy James was the head of Dynegy's Power Origination group. Under James’ direction this group of originators structured transaction which added hundreds of millions of dollars of value to Dynegy, with several of these transactions exceeding 500MW in size and 10 years in term. I would venture to say that no other organization in the industry was as productive during this same time period. Furthermore, because of his employment with several different organizations James has been able to develop a broad range of experience and a lot of contacts in the industry. Those that have had the opportunity to work with James respect him for his integrity and knowledge and like to work with him. I have had the unique opportunity of being James’ supervisor and also working as his subordinate. Initially I hired James to work for me at Duke Energy, but after that shop was closed down I moved over to Dynegy where I worked to get him hired in a position where he was my supervisor. James is a very gifted business developer and negotiator; however he is probably an even better leader and manager because of his strong understanding of the entire business platform and his ability to manage both up and down within an organization. The strongest endorsement that I can give James is to say that I would gladly work with James again. He will make a tremendous contribution to any organization lucky enough to have him.
