I had the privelidge of working with James from February 2007 - June 2008. James approaches his work with integrity and well thought-out precision, while maintaining a solid core of values from which all his work stems. In addition to our time together as desk researchers in Geneva, I had the opportunity to accompany him on a field visit to supervise a household survey in northern Kenya and South Sudan. Assisting James at the time, I learned what was required in seeing a project through from beginning to end, and more importantly how to overcome the many obstacles that present themselves throughout the project cycle. James is the perfect example of balance between a team player when that is called for and a creative researcher who through innovation and sound judgment can persevere in challenging and sometimes dangerous environments. I unequivocally recommend James and often call on him to share his insights, which are always conveyed in a cordial and good humored way.
