James is a very friendly, human individual who cares deeply about his work and about building a strong, supportive team. He brings real passion and emotion to his work and has a vision clearly in mind of the outcomes he wants to achieve. As a Project Manager I found James to be resilient, affable, responsive and skilled in the various techniques of monitoring and project management. More than just through the quality of his work, James brought to the team a sense of unity and well-being. He was always one of the first to reach out to new staff, for example, and always keen to support building a sense of family and offering his support. His impact as a social media champion was particularly notable, as was his dedication to community causes. In his community role as President of the local Rotary Club, I have seen James explore and develop his leadership skills and witnessed his willingness to reflect, learn and try new approaches when the nature of the challenge has changed. This is a subtle and demanding context within which to provide leadership and inspiration, but James' unfaltering dedication and passion have clearly been positive and built enhanced relationships and impact. For me, James was a pleasure to work with and contributed hugely to the sense of oneness and collaboration in the business. I have also been lucky enough to see James' dedication to his family and his ability to balance work and life demands: he is a model of a loving father and supportive colleague. As a supporting coach to James for a year, I always found him willing to open up to new ideas and to try different approaches to a given problem. I was also very impressed by his resilience at dealing with some significant setbacks and challenges.
