Served as an assistant superintendent for the duration of the dry docking of a 73000-dwt tanker, at LISNAVE shipyard. The main tasks completed were: The completion of the second special survey, including the renewal statutory surveys, BWTS retrofitting and the Stern-tube bearing repair. Besides serving as an assistant to the superintendent I aided with the installation of the BWTS and supported DNV GL. During my internship in DNV GL I spent 1 week in the Condition Assessment Program unit (CAP) and three weeks in the survey unit. In the CAP unit I reviewed several CAP survey reports. In the survey unit I shadowed the principal surveyors on board several vessels. Furthermore, I took part in the process of certification of machinery components rebuilding with workshop attendance.
