I had the responsibility of ensuring that the call centre I worked in was fully operational from a building perspective. I was also head of physical security, giving the security guards instruction, providing feedback through their area manager & updating the security SOP when changes occurred. The role also involved managing the building access system, ensuring that staff only had access to areas where they were authorized to be. My role involved being responsible for the Health & Safety of the whole site conducting risk assessments, performing regular H&S walk about checks & reporting any maintenance issues through the appropriate channels. As part of Firstsource's duty of care for it's employees all staff had to undergo a H&S induction, all of which involved me giving a 45 minute presentation on H&S and giving a guided tour of the building, I found this part of the role very important as it allowed me to build solid relationships with new joins, so that it was easier for me to persuade them to comply with company policy. One of my best memories from working for Firstsource was my time working away in Cardiff setting up a new centre, I had to work to tight deadlines and was under a great deal of pressure to have everything ready for the staff migration, the centre opening was a resounding success. Working in facilities has been my most enjoyable role to date, I made some good friends, had some good times and learned some new skills. Show less
