Working on independent commissions, I design and create high-end, bespoke engagement, wedding and cocktail rings. I mostly design rings from scratch but can also re-design existing jewellery into more contemporary pieces. I keep up-to-date with current jewellery trends to inspire my designs. I'm a qualified Gem-A diamond grader and enjoy sharing my knowledge of different styles of ring design, gem and diamond grading options, and precious metal options with clients. I take care to understand clients’ preferences and budget constraints and develop clear design concepts that fit their needs.I create professional, realistic renders in Vray/Matrix software and 3D print resin prototypes of renders using my own in-house Solus 3D printer. I am proficient in using Adobe suite to design and create advertisement flyers, printed media and print portfolios. I write jewellery blogs and advertise my services through social media, Google AdWords and printed media. I have worked with companies such as: De le Cuona, BASFA, Worshipful Company Makers Of Playing Cards, Institute of Security and exhibited at Hertfordshire based wedding shows.Initially my business started as James Veale Jewellery, where I specialised in using 3D scans to scale down sculptures of wildlife and then edit them using Rhino and Zbrush to create sterling silver animal themed jewellery (pendants, cufflinks, rings) that maintain the detail of the original artwork. Head Caster and Jewellery Designer
-
Dec 2011 - May 2013
I produced CAD designs of ‘Dr Who’ artefacts based on photos and blueprints. I created designs that enabled pieces to be enamelled and learnt about shrinkage rates when designing. I was responsible for daily castings, waxing up and investing (using Yasui wax injector, Indatherm VC500, Vacuum investor, Kiln). I used resins and waxes from Solidscape, Envisiontec and Project 3500 3D printers to cast jewellery into bronze, sterling silver and 9ct/18ct gold pieces. I also made cold cure silicone moulds and vulcanised moulds and took a key role in maintaining the machinery. During my time at Harelquin, I was trained by Goodwin refractory services in vacuum casting, using wax injectors, vacuum investing, burnout cycles and moulding. Show less

Furniture Restorer
-
Aug 2011 - Apr 2013
On a part-time basis I worked with a furniture restorer specialising in 60s and 70s retro furniture. I was responsible for finding the furniture to restore back to its former glory and took on a key role in stripping back old polish on furniture, sanding and prepping surfaces and re-polishing ready for re-sale. I also took part in delivery of items. I gained understanding and appreciation of the classic Danish look and key designers in the 60/70s period. I continued to work on an ad-hoc basis with Hamilton and Co up until 2015. Show less
