The Project also included a temporary bypass of Route 8 Northbound which included three temporary bridges, and approximately a mile of roadway created to completely divert traffic off of the existing northbound structure. Reconstruction of I-95 and replacement of Bridge 250 over Route 161 in East Lyme, CT. Project Original Estimated Value - $148 Million Project Projected Value - TBD Project Description - Reconstruction of 1.3 miles of mainline I-95 to correct vertical geometry concerns by raising and lowering the profile approximately 15 feet. On and Off-ramps at Exit 74 will be reconstructed to meet current standards while bridge 250 over Route 161 will be completely removed and replaced. 16 retaining walls as well as a multitude of temporary slope-supporting elements will also be installed as a part of the project scope to facilitate the grade changes of the roadway through the interchange. The reconstruction of Route 161 has its own challenges with intricate water main, sanitary sewer, gas and overhead utility relocation efforts. Show less
