Detached to the Falkland Islands to supervise and conduct preventative and corrective maintenance at a remote radar head. My responsibilities included:•Reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in all aspects of the powerful T101 long range radar system, Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR), V/UHF ground to air communications, Troy voice communications system and associated data links•Ensured safe working practices were followed especially in hazardous areas containing EHT potentials of 50 KV, AC distribution units with 3 phase and mains voltage plus large moving parts such as antenna actuators. •Utilised various test equipment during maintenance such as Oscilloscope, logic analyser, power meter, spectrum analyser etc. •Ensured all test equipment was within date for calibration in accordance with MOD and manufacturer guidelines. •Ensured radar performance data was uploaded to a document management system for trend analysis. •Coordinated Quality Assurance (QA) self audit activities.•Assumed managerial responsibilities when necessary for matters regarding permit to work, radiation management and engineering documentation. Taught engineers and managers in initial deployment, installation, maintenance and fault rectification of a bespoke virtual server environment. Detached to RAF Wittering for 4 months to work as a supervisor in an Air Traffic Engineering environment.
