The Atticus Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to the research of AI-powered contract review and the creation of open-source training datasets of legal contracts for AI research. Summer interns at the Atticus Project are a part of the Atticus Open Data Project Student Fellow Program, created in partnership with the Atticus Project, Berkeley Center for Law and Business, and LexLab at UC Hastings Law. Participants spend their summer primarily annotating legal contracts and attending training workshops, as well as creating and updating training materials. Not only does this program help participants learn practical contract review skills and gain knowledge and proficiency in AI-based legal tools, it also allows participants to shape the future of legal AI tools and the legal industry as a whole.
