Provided data driven analyses on myriad company activities to ensure testing was delivered successfully. Helped automate daily procedures to provide increased efficiency therein; this included the creation of dashboards, ad hoc analyses, and batch XML code across a variety of use cases. Provided ad hoc statistical and root cause analyses when examining bug and glitch occurrences. Provided data driven analyses on myriad company activities to ensure testing was delivered successfully. I served primarily as an actuarial analyst in general liability and also in accident and health. I built increasingly more sophisticated pricing models within these lines that would help guide the rating decisions of the company within those domains. I served an additional role as an unofficial data science consultant within our analytics group. I developed and ran a small class that taught R programming, geared towards professional use. I developed custom functions within R that could not only run actuarial models that were generated in Emblem but also could be extended to use additional analytic techniques (e.g. cross validation, regularization, ... ). These were further made compatible with h2o, allowing us to leverage cloud computing where it was necessary.

      • May 2014 - Dec 2015

I worked with the Rensselaer Institute for Data Exploration and Analytics (IDEA) Lab. Using SQL and R as my primarily coding languages, I analyzed large database of emergency medical heathcare records to help classify various at-risk populations within the patient field of study. I was in charge of the entire data life cycle, from preparing/cleaning the data to the analysis.

    • Professional Assistant
      • Jan 2015 - May 2015

I served as an additional graduate assistant for a graduate level course geared towards data analytics and data exploration. I helped introduce and teach students how to use the R programming language in practice; I served as both a coding and concept instructor, and would create small modules to help students catch up on any information they may not have been exposed to coming from less mathematical backgrounds. Occasionally, I would do R&D to determine packages and functions that were most recently being used to solve tasks and would introduce them to the group in write ups.

    • Teaching Assistant
      • Aug 2013 - May 2014

While a student at Rensselaer, I worked as a teaching assistant for two classes in mathematics* Calculus II (One Semester) * Ordinary Differential Equations (One Semester) In the Calculus course, I was responsible for administering quizzes and grades for the students. I also took it upon myself to design concept reviews when students were having difficulties. I had more latitude in my ODE course to design quizzes and control the tempo of my class. I served office hours to help with any questions and would provide additional material on concepts I noticed were of difficulty for my students

    • Research Intern
      • Jun 2012 - Aug 2013

I worked with a team of research interns to study a large crop insurance database joined with time series satellite data. Helped develop clustering and bayesian regression techniques to study the pattern of greenness among farm locations. Work on the data helped the next team of interns develop methods to spot potential crop insurance fraud using such datasets.
