Jim supported me on one of the most challenging assignments I've seen. We had to reassemble a large test setup that had not been used in 5 years. The test involved off-loading the isolation mounts of a meteorolocical instrument to simulate its depolyed on-orbit state. A large overhead crane and gantry system that had been disassembly after its last use. The steel had been stored outside and the rest of the setup was somewhere in a warehouse. Jim retrieved the gantry and coordinated with an outside supplier to clean and repaint the steel keeping in mind it had to go into a clean room. He also worked with the properties group to search the warehouse for the rest of the equipment. He then worked with the crane company to pour foundations for the gantry in its NEW location and erect the gantry and crane. We were able to give this entire portion of the project to Jim and he ran with it. He kept me abreast of the status and I was able to focus on other facets of the project. Jim is an asset to any organization. Because of his experience and knowledge, he is able to do a lot with very little direction.

Eastman Kodak's Consumer & Government Systems: Project Lead Engineer for a 50 ft tall precision optical alignment tower (TVAS) that was used for integration of NASA's Chandra Space Telescope (aka. AXAF). Responsible for the $1.6M TVAS from specification of requirements through final installation. The TVAS functioned in a Class 10K cleanroom and was designed to protect and manipulate a $45M optic, classified as a US National Treasure. The TVAS performed a 15 arcsec alignment over a 40 foot long, 652 pound composite aerospace structure using a single iteration of the translation mechanisms. Relocated my family to Manhattan Beach, CA. to support the structural installation of the TVAS in the high bay cleanroom facility. Recognized in the formal group achievement award presented by Chandra Program leaders at NASA. Show less
