I worked with James, in his role as the owner’s Project Manager, on the DaVita Labs project in DeLand Florida. I observed James first hand, in my role as design team leader and lead architect on the project. James joined the DaVita leadership team approximately two years into the four-year project. He amazed all of our team by how quickly he brought himself up to speed on every design and construction detail of the project. He immediately contributed to the project by asking critical questions. James then, within days of joining the leadership team, began to assert his leadership and technical skills in making crucial decisions that benefited the project as a whole. James’ understanding of every technical aspect of healthcare design and construction from an owner’s perspective was impressive and truly invaluable for the project team. Without micro managing the design team or the construction team, James clearly understood every detail of the project, whether architectural, engineering or construction. James communicated his expectation in meetings and on-site very clearly and succinctly to each project discipline throughout the project. The project was and is a great success for DaVita and their patients due in major part to James’ work ethic was extraordinary as was his attention to detail and complete dedication to each of his responsibilities within the project.

James is a top performer and one of the best Soldiers I have had under my command. He is an incredibly competent, task-focused, and team-oriented type of individual. Every endeavor that James undertook while under my command was completed to a level expected of more senior Noncommissioned Officers. While on my team, James was recognized as the best noncommissioned officer in the Army Engineer Regiment, ranked #1 out of ~5,000 engineer Noncommissioned Officers, by winning the Sturgis Award. James also earned induction to the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy club, an honor that highlights James as being among the top 2% of Noncommissioned Officers in the entire Army. He routinely outperformed his peers and enhanced our organization with his timeliness, thoroughness, and overall effort he put forth daily. As an Advance Leader Course instructor, James led the way in overhauling the curriculum, thereby ensuring students received the best possible instruction. James also spent countless hours of his personal time outside of the classroom, providing additional instruction and mentorship to students to ensure they would be successful. James is one of the brightest Soldiers with whom I have had the opportunity to serve. James recently passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam and earned a well above average score after minimal studying. As a result of his competency, and superior leadership and communication abilities, I am confident that James would be value-added to any organization.
