Created an enterprise-wide Data Warehouse using the Microsoft SQL Stack that revolved around Online Education data using a SCRUM Agile development environment. Developed 3 star-schema based enterprise data marts using best practices and techniques, whose data was being used by thousands of end users within the company ranging from executives to admissions counselors. ETL processes used SSIS to pull source data from multiple data sources including, MySQL databases, SQL Server Databases, SharePoint Lists, Flat Files, and Excel Files etc. using a stage, cleansed, integrated, and load workflow. There was an auditing framework as well as an error handing framework built into the process. The data was on used on BI applications by the end users whom we trained and created templates for them to use, which included Tableau, SSRS, and Excel etc. Created SSAS cubes that fed off the data marts. Improved processes and cut down ETL time by using custom C# script tasks as well as advanced SSIS techniques, for example like using batch updates and source filtering before doing a merge-join. Added complete SCD1 auditing to certain dimensions by incorporating triggers on the batch update tables. Was a Tableau server administrator, maintained user/group access and licensing, maintenance of all of the jobs and extract refreshes. Did numerous demos, prototypes, and training sessions with the Tableau desktop application. Designated scrum master for the agile process during development sprints, ran daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, and other scrum master tasks. Show less

      • Aug 2010 - Aug 2011

Worked in the Planning Department and strategically designed and implemented BI software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses dealing with hospital information that were millions of records in size. Selected, blueprinted, gathered requirements, designed, developed, tested, documented, and rolled out BI solutions to end users, which were Business Developers, Chief Officers, and Department Chairs. Maintained security and access rights for those users for dynamic SSRS reports that contained HIPAA compliant data. Merged different BI platforms from multiple data sources to a central data mart housed on a server that I maintained. Used automated ETL processes to keep information up to date and that scrubbed/cleaned the data. Worked directly and trained end users on using the BI Tools. Received feedback to whether the tools met business requirements for project completion, as well as provide technical support. Troubleshot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tuned these applications as necessary. Researched the latest technologies to use on reports, used GIS maps that were integrated into SQL Server 2008 R2 for spatial data needed to map specific regions that tied to the hospital information for a visual representation of the data. Also worked with the Space Management team to create databases and reports for space planning. Show less
