Bio
David McCleary
I have had the pleasure of working with James for 3 years and during that time James has always been willing to take on new responsibilities and challenges as the business has changed. James is an experienced and hands-on test lead with a passion for testing, he is focused, detailed orientated and analytical. He brought many good practices to Philips and always challenged people and processes when he identified better ways of working.
Roisin Gilmartin
I worked closely with James as QA Lead at Core Systems. He takes great pride in his work, is methodical in his approach and is strongly quality-driven. James not only mentored our QA engineers on best practice and process, but he also heavily influenced how our Software Engineers approached their work with Quality at front of mind at all times. As well as fulfilling the HR and mentoring aspects of the QA Lead role, James also actively spent a lot of hands-on time on several projects, showcasing his strong technical skills and logical way of working. I thoroughly enjoyed working with James and can truly say he will make a positive difference with any prospective employer.

I am a key part of the Digital Pathology Solutions Group within Philips. I own the Belfast testing team's strategy for products and tooling that is used in the fight against cancer, making a real difference to people's lives. Working in an agile environment, which initially utilised scrum and has more recently moved to kanban for workload management. I have an emphasis on quality throughout the cycle and assisting in driving DevOps principles from a testing perspective. Key achievements so far have been driving testing into development sprints. I also have been responsible for designing and implementing new testing processes to move away from step heavy scripted testing to focus on a leaner more agile approach to testing utilising more lightweight exploratory testing and used focused end to end flows. Working in a Kanban development environment, I was part of a small QA team of four people which was focused on re-writing regression tests and recommending cases that might be suitable for automated testing in future. In addition to this I further enhanced my own automation skills utilising C# and Specflow. I gained exposure to Git and Powershell scripting.
