Terenure, Dublin 6 We have designed a machine to inspect retroreflective road markings at high speed on both left and right hand sides of the lane. Also RPMS, centre markings and median markers. It is the most repeatable in the world. We have now built a daytime version. We are building a colour version and have other plans to expand across the road surface. We have state of the art mapping software to display this information.

I was chief engineer in VSRU. We developed machine vision systems for various companies including Apple technology in Cork. This was the first AOI system that I built that worked. This was followed by work for Bourns, Molex, GESI and Motorola. With Motorola we developed SMT AOI systems for their lines in Dublin, Scotland (Easter Inch) and the US (Arlington Heights). All of these were successful, to a greater and lessor extent, especially the "henhouse" put into Motorola… Show more I was chief engineer in VSRU. My time was spent 1/2 in Dublin and 1/2 in Japan (Chiba). I developed various s/w packages: Msort a sorting package. SE a screen editor for all Sord Operating Systems WP2 a word processor - I was in a a team of 3 who developed WP2. I did the editor and UI part of it. I also ported the C language to the Sord OS's from CPM and demonstrated the benefits of a high level systems programming language to the Sord Engineers in Japan.
