Experience

    • CTO
      • Jun 2013 - Present

Terenure, Dublin 6 We have designed a machine to inspect retroreflective road markings at high speed on both left and right hand sides of the lane. Also RPMS, centre markings and median markers. It is the most repeatable in the world. We have now built a daytime version. We are building a colour version and have other plans to expand across the road surface. We have state of the art mapping software to display this information.

    • CTO
      • 2011 - Apr 2013

Dublin, Ireland Development of Underwater cameras and underwater imaging systems. These were 2d and 3d based systems used to demonstrate the possibilities of underwater machine vision.. Also 3d high speed tire inspection systems.

    • Principal Engineer
      • Feb 2009 - Sep 2011

Dublin, Nuremberg, Seoul. Adding some AOI and 2D / Colour experience to the Z heads. Developed Polarity and OCV inspection modules. Generalised these from 2d to 2d + 3d image modes. Developed very low contrast LED inspection systems in 2d / 3d Developed electronic capacitor and crystal component inspection modules. Expanded shadow inspection modes.

Led the development of the GS-1 and SJ-10 AOI machines, mainly in terms of vision algorithms.

    • Senior Engineer
      • Jan 1990 - Jan 1996

I was chief engineer in VSRU. We developed machine vision systems for various companies including Apple technology in Cork. This was the first AOI system that I built that worked. This was followed by work for Bourns, Molex, GESI and Motorola. With Motorola we developed SMT AOI systems for their lines in Dublin, Scotland (Easter Inch) and the US (Arlington Heights). All of these were successful, to a greater and lessor extent, especially the "henhouse" put into Motorola… Show more I was chief engineer in VSRU.
