Real Estate/Special AssetsWorking within the Business Support Unit, James was part of the Lloyds Bank team managing the disposal/exits of two major real estate portfolios: Project Indie and Project Aberdonia. Valued at over 1bn Euros, these portfolios comprised commercial and light industrial real-estate assets in a range of jurisdictions across continental Europe. Along with executing a value-maximising auction process, the disposals required careful consideration of regulatory matters and navigation with the Bank's most senior executives.

Special Assets/Work Out/Turn AroundJames led a team managing a portfolio of non-core, stressed and distressed asset types with an exposure in excess of $2.8bn. The portfolio comprised assets in a diverse range of sectors with a focus on: (i) oil and gas (primarily borrowing-base E&P and midstream independents) and natural resources (forestry);(ii) gaming;(iii) real estate (primarily, commercial, light industrial, master-planned residential development);(iv) manufacturing (leveraged buyouts); (v) non-bank financials (mortgage books and consumer credit).A range of strategies were deployed across the portfolio including: restructuring/refinancing, bankruptcy, secondary market sales, and turnaround in order to maximise value preservation and recovery. In addition to advocating these strategies with senior credit officials, James was also a member of the credit committee with oversight of other aspects of the wider non-core portfolio in North America.
