James was an absolute delight to work with at Save. He was super smart, a great strategic thinker, highly organised, and technically very knowledgeable. James possesses a great ability to manage relationships across a range of corporate, philanthropic and other external partners while also being a collaborative team player within the Save family and a supportive and empowering manager of people. I still miss working with him to be honest.

I have worked with James for many years, since he joined Save the Children as a Senior Education Adviser, up to the time he left. James has excellent interpersonal skills & was a wonderful colleague to work with. James demonstrated a leading edge in so many professional and technical competencies, I highlight the top 3 here – James delivers results, he is both process & product oriented & delivers high quality products, whether designing new proposals that have attracted multi-million pounds funding or researching & writing evidence based reports, his products stand out. James is a good communicator, a transformative and inspiring leader, he takes on extra roles, which he executes effortlessly and to very high standards. For example he took on a chief of party role over & above his education technical role to ensure that high risk projects remained on track & succeeded, he stepped up to a Head of Education Team role, as well as represented the organisation in many high level education forums. He was an excellent line manager, managing MEAL advisers and later on an entire team of 10 technical staff, who he in turn he ensured delivered quality results. James is an innovator he introduced new innovative ways of programming in education using technology, initiating strategic partnerships. He led the entire movement in developing the teachers professional development (TPD) approach which is now a fully fledged technical common approach being implemented successfully in many countries.
