Steering Subsystem Lead

● Responsible for overseeing the design, manufacturing and assembly of the steering subsystem.● Designed a support for upper steering column to reinforce the U-joint connecting the two parts of the steering column.● Perform and analyze FEAs on custom-designed components such as steering columns, supports and mountings. ● Collaborate with other subsystem leaders to integrate the steering system within the rest of the car.● Organize the budgeting and manufacturing of the subsystem, including making machine drawings, contacting manufacturers, and reaching out to sponsors.

● Designed a support for the lower steering column to reduce vibrations and wear in the steering rack.● Adapted steering rack mountings to be suitable for new steering geometry.● Researched and compared off-the-shelf components including U-joints, steering columns and epoxies.
