We have graduated 3,000+ students in courses ranging from basic computer skills, to 6 month courses in Javascript, Python and HTML. I am part of a 5 person leadership team that manages the organisation on a voluntary basis, with time dedicated on the weekends. As Head of Operations, my responsibilities include: - developing and implementing strategies that grow the NGO - ensuring strong international collaboration with organisations such as UNHCR, Cohere and WUSC (the charity arm of McGill University) - providing steadfast partner integrity as the key contact point for the team in the refugee camp. In 2019, I spent 5 weeks living in Kakuma gaining insight and implementing a new project with the local team. This focused on setting up an internet café, which now generates a small income to help cover running costs. I also oversaw the relocation of the centre to a new site within the camp, which was donated by the UN. During the move we built an additional classroom to increase student capacity. The project involved negotiating with the UN and other NGOs, working with local contractors and developing a financial plan.
