The idea of Adventures with Ted was inspired in 2017. My comic is meant to invoke a positive outlook on disability. Humor is infectious, as well as healing. Smiling and laughing about an outcome is more appealing than feeling sadness or despair, where it can lead to a lack of motivation. Humor is important to me. Humor breaks down barriers and sensitivities people might have toward disability. Within the comic world, there is no representation like Ted. His humor is satirical, and most importantly, he is able to laugh at himself. Ted is autobiographical in the sense that he thinks about the same issues that I do. Many of Ted's life situations are taken from my own experiences. He is used as an outlet referencing my quirky sensibilities. Through humor, Ted has a unique vision on different social commentaries in relation to disability issues.
