As Assistant Chief Academic Officer, I work closely with the PSUGA’s Chief Academic Officer on the delivery of all academic programs and related activities. Currently, 14 Teaching-Line Faculty and two administrative assistants report directly to me.Specific responsibilities include: -Mentoring, monitoring, and assessing PSUGA’s Teaching-line faculty members.-Supervising Academic Affairs Staff. -Working closely with Teaching-Line faculty on all aspects of promotion.-Addressing student concerns, academic integrity violations, and other issues related to Teaching-Line faculty. -Assisting in the development of the Academic Affairs budget, semester schedules, and faculty workloads. -Assisting with program and curriculum development and assessment.-Developing and delivering campus programs such as First Year Seminar and Greater Reads. -Collaborating with Athletic Director and Academic support programs to monitor student-athlete progress. -Serving as a point of contact for all athletes and their academic endeavors. -Other duties include University search committees, campus event planning, and other recruitment and retention activities as needed. As a Teaching Professor of English, my responsibilities include 6 or 12 credits of instruction per semester, based upon administrative responsibilities, in addition to Penn State’s service and scholarship requirements. Other Responsibilities include: -Advising at least 15 students each semester.-As one of the first faculty members promoted to Teaching Professor at Penn State, I have served in a variety of capacities related to Teaching-Line faculty promotion and legislation. These include participating on numerous promotion committees for faculty being promoted to the third level, serving on the University Teaching Line Promotion Committee, and pre-reviewing promotion dossiers. Recently, I served on a task force charged with revising the University guidelines for promotion of Teaching-Line faculty. Show less
