The Formula Student team faces a challenge to design and manufacture a single-seat race car from scratch to enter in an international competition at Silverstone each year. The design has to be proposed to a hypothetical manufacturing firm, demonstrating the logic behind the design and that it can support a viable business model with rigorous testing. Roles within the team: Vehicle Integration Engineer: -Design a front Splitter to work in tangent with the undertray and rear diffuser, to create a more aerodynamically balanced vehicle. -Design the bodywork of the car, aiming to create a lightweight aerodynamic body that is also aesthetically pleasing. -The design of both projects will be optimized through the use of Fluent CFD, with the aim of validating the numerical results with scale model wind tunnel testing . Powertrain Engineer: - Design a lightweight and compact fuel system. - Design compact fuel tank that is easily accessible, and capable of lasting the formula student endurance event. - Investigate the effect of sloshing in the fuel tank, and find a feasible solution to the issue. actively went out to find industry work experience and shadowing during first year of sixth form. this lead to short work experience placement with CDG (continental data graphics). I spent time work shadowing different departments within the company , I shadowed a team whose responsibility was producing technical documentations for the Boeing 787 dreamliner passenger aircraft , where they introduced me into various software packages that they used to perform technical solutions. The last two days of my work experience involved shadowing the service bulletin department, where I was able to learn and observe from employee’s that reported on the recommended procedures for modifying aircraft's under service.
