Web Development Immersive Course
-
May 2017 - Sep 2017
I completed the Web Development Immersive course at General Assembly. The course focussed on core coding skills as well as soft skills such as presentations and daily standups. The course featured four modules, each of which culminated in a project where we had the chance to employ some of our newly learned skills: Project 1: Connect 4 game - Two player app testing game-play logic rendered in an 80’s arcade style. Build: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS Project 2: Big Events (Event website) - Allowed users to post events as well as keep track of attendees. Users can post the location of their event and login via facebook. The application used Google Maps API for the location functionality. Build: MongoDB, Express, Node.js, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, BCrypt, Bootstrap and Gulp Project 3: Group project: Disaster Relief (Aid website) - Enabled users to post if they required or are able to offer assistance in times of tragedy. The app calculated distances between users using Google Maps API and also used Nodemailer to alert users to a particular incident in a given radius. Most of my work involved the setup of the restful routes, integrating the Google Maps API, image upload, front end validation and styling the site overall. Build: MongoDB, Express, AngularJS, Node.js, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, BCrypt, Bulma, Gulp and Bower Project 4: Corporate Radar (Stock portfolio website) - Gave users the ability to track stocks and add them to a portfolio. Users could look at the portfolios of other users and comment on their strategy. I used Angular charts to display in the portfolio information in a graphical format and Intrinio API to pull in real time stock data. Build: Ruby, Postgres, AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, BCrypt, Bulma, Gulp and Bower Show less
