Welcoming guests from around the world to the beauty and friendliness of Boulder, Colorado. Learning how to be a hotelier extraordinaire by modeling the best behavior of my coworkers. Working in the wee hours of the night on social media updates. Writing blog entries on topics from Boulder Best Chocolatiers to a History of Hotel Neon Signs. Loving watching the new morning's dawn shine its light on the Flatirons every day. Harboring a secret wish to be part of a worker owned cooperative Boulder hotel within the Best Western brand. Provided part time temporary office support for strategic research, planning, and marketing solutions for seniors housing and care communities in Colorado. I learned about the importance of community in senior care and how we can anticipate boomers to transform the experience of retirement. I look forward to aging and working on senior co-op communities in the future. Sep 2010 - Dec 2010
The 4 Mile Community Store was established to support the families and individuals affected by the Fourmile Canyon Fire. The store was supported through an outpouring of community donations including goods, services and volunteer support. It was amazing to see the human to human connections. One day a women chef who lost all her possiessions in the fire found a random donation of an Italian cookbook just like the treasured one she always had in her own kitchen. In that moment and many others the spirit of being held by the larger community was palitable to everyone. Show less

Technology Serving Community in Boulder CO. Boulder Community Network was the second web-based community network. BCN went live in March of 1994, as a collaboration of folks from the University of Colorado's Journalism school, department of Computer Science, the Boulder Public Library, etc. I coordinated over 200 information technology volunteers and handled staff IT issues as a junior system administrator. I greatly enjoyed working with local nonprofits and community members to help bridge a digital divide and to help make the wonders of the world side web available to all members of society. Show less
