I had the distinct pleasure to work with Jim as a fellow teacher and eventually as the assistant principal and principal at Nazareth Area Middle School. Jim always struck me as a dedicated and creative individual who was always willing to use his talents for the benefit of teachers and students. As a teacher at the Middle School, he collaborated with peers to develop a strong focus on writing and student production of work that illustrated achievement within the five domains of writing established by PDE. Through the process, the teachers would identify key areas of strength and concern among the students and would facilitate cross team activities to serve the needs of students. As the Language Arts Specialist, he did a wonderful job in terms of defining the role (he was the first to serve in that position) and was very successful in indentifying resources for teachers to use for students based upon needs through data review. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jim, and found him to be reliable, knowledgeable and student focussed.
