As a member of Subcity Radio's Programmes & Comms team, I am tasked with ensuring all the station's broadcasts run smoothly, as well as contributing to the social media communications which the station releases to promote shows, events and announcements. As a broadcaster myself, creating vibrant social media content to promote shows is second nature to me. I am proficient in several Adobe Creative Cloud programmes, and understand how best to promote posts to achieve maximum audience engagement. So far in my tenure at Subcity, there have been many obstacles to navigate. With the station's website currently under maintenance, and with social distancing restrictions limiting our contributors' access to the studio facilities, excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills have been required to continue delivering our high-quality radio content. As a recent graduate in Media, Communications & International Journalism, joining the COP26 media coverage was been very important to me. Since the COP began, I worked in the heart of the COP26 Coalition's media centre, which involved producing, dressing, editing and publishing large amounts of social media content in order to promote the most important news stories and developments that occur during the conference. Most importantly, this has required a high level of knowledge and understanding of how to engage global audiences effectively, raising as much awareness for the climate action cause as possible. • Sep 2020 - Sep 2021

In September 2020, I began working with the University of Glasgow's Reach Out, taking on a role as a student ambassador alongside my studies. During my time with the Reach Out team, my role was to liaise with students, troubleshooting all manner of queries, ranging from COVID-19 restrictions, IT problems and student living. The Reach Out team has often been the first port of call for struggling students, so the role has demanded a great deal of empathy and quick decision making. Moreover, it has necessitated a proficiency in the university’s online systems to resolve every issue we face. Show less

I recently took up a fixed-term contract at Waterstones in Glasgow, where I worked in-store as a bookseller. Customer service was the most important requirement of this job, as it involved communicating with hundreds of customers each day over the busy Christmas rush. With such a high volume of customers, problems had to solved quickly and intuitively, whilst ensuring that each person walked away from a transaction satisfied. My main duties were operating the tills, replenishing stock, merchandising our books aesthetically, answering customer questions, offering recommendations, dealing with complaints and maintaining our café. House Twenty8 is a family-run, vegetarian and organic café, with a busy and varied clientele. Working there for the past four years, I have acquired many important practical skills of the trade, such as the preparation of food and drink, and the intuitive and efficient management of a hospitality environment. During my time with the business, I have been versatile in accommodating the diverse array of duties required of me. I’ve worked primarily as a chef and barista, preparing and cooking the variety of meals and serving an eclectic range of beverages; but I’ve also been employed as a landscaper, a cleaner, and a cashier over the course of my tenure. Managing numerous orders and tasks at the same time developed my time management and multi-tasking skills and taught me how to plan ahead in order to meet strict deadlines. Dealing with customer enquiries and feedback (such as complaints and queries regarding the products) developed my attentiveness whilst also improving my problem solving and active listening skills. Working for a small independent company with high ethical awareness was very important to me, and we had the opportunity to spread our values and friendliness through the nearby community Show less

Alongside my work in hospitality this summer, I also worked full-time as a warehouse operative at CSM Live – a global manufacturer of sports branding. During this time I contributed to the building, maintenance, presentation and onsite-installation of the company’s numerous products. This experience greatly improved my core skills in perseverance, quality-control and general problem solving, but most importantly gave me a well-honed focus on efficiency in a high-turnover, deadline-oriented workplace. • EMEA Digital Marketing Intern
      • Jun 2017 - Sep 2017

In 2017, I was lucky enough to work as a summer intern in Adobe's Digital Marketing team, for the region of EMEA. The internship at Adobe showed me how the strong research disciplines and attention to detail that I learned during my degree were relevant in the workplace. Working as part of the Digital team, I focused on the methodology of driving sales in the Student Sector, and I also had responsibilities to assess weekly web, traffic and trading metrics together with the team. Whilst I was with Adobe, I tried to involve myself in as many sectors of the business as possible, working together with the Digital team, the Marketing teams, the Sales teams and the Corporate Social Responsibility team. In the Digital team, I documented and evaluated customer journeys from Search to Trial, offering my views on the optimisation of customer experience in presentations. For the Marketing teams, I was researching the loyalty programs of other companies and then proposing options, based on my findings, for the retention of customers in meetings with the leader of the Cancellations team for the UK. For one of the Sales teams, I worked at one of Adobe’s sponsored events in London (a monthly event called Nicer Tuesdays), in which four major artists gave lectures about their recent work. My role was to communicate with the creative attendees and to sell them Adobe Spark. Contributing to the Corporate Social Responsibility team, I looked into potential partnerships with charities, culminating in a presentation I gave about the Prince’s Trust, which is a partnership that has since collaborated on the ‘Creative Jam’ scheme.
