I played baseball with James on a couple different adult teams, and I knew that he would be a great candidate for coaching. James has baseball knowledge - but not the kind of knowledge that any normal person does. He has knowledge that is relatable. Being able to relay baseball skills and strategy to teenagers is no easy feat, but James did it wonderfully. James would often be the person to keep the practices light and airy. The players saw him as someone they could talk to, even during their darkest days. All I can hope for is that he stays with me on the staff or flourishes wherever he decides to go.
