Under the guidance of Dr. Meredith Schuh, I assisted her and her lab as a SURF worker. Our project sought to determine the impact of pre and postnatal nephrotoxic agents(harmful to kidneys) on infants who were born prematurely. The day-to-day work consisted of Excel management, Immunofluorescence staining of sample slides, imaging on several confocal microscopes, post-image processing, and data collection. The summer culminated with an oral poster presentation, as I explained the research I helped conduct to several judges. I am incredibly thankful to Dr. Schuh for the patience and time she dedicated to my training and final poster presentation. The Cincinnati SURF program was my first exposure to clinical research, and I am very thankful to have participated in it.

As an employee of Penn Station(first employment), I was exposed to the food industry and the diligent work that is required to run a successful restaurant. While working the register, I learned the importance of hospitality, patience, and active listening. I also worked in the preparation of the food, both behind the scenes and in the kitchen, and I learned about the importance of efficiency and mindful work while preparing food in a high stress environment. I am very thankful to my managers and coworkers who spent their valuable time training me and pushing me towards success.
