In April of 2006 James was called to be the Lead Pastor of Journey Christian Church (Est. 1995) in Midlothian (Richmond), VA. Journey is a growing community of faith whose mission is to invite and lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Journey has twice been named as one of America's 100 fastest growing churches (2011 & 2017) by Outreach Magazine. It is James’ privilege to lead such a dynamic group of people in making a positive and transforming impact throughout RVA. Journey is a “come as you are” church where people are genuinely excited about their connection to Jesus Christ. My leadership focuses on inviting and leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and creating an environment where people with little church background can explore faith. Helping you achieve optimal health, one healthy habit at a time. In October 2018, Angie and I began a health journey that has changed our lives. After four months of transformation, people kept asking us what we were doing. We eventually decided that we could pay the gift forward and help others achieve lasting health transformation. There are people all around you who love you and want you to be healthy as the years pass. Let us know how we can help you to achieve optimal health. Here is my story: For most of my adult life, I struggled with my weight and health. At 6'3" I had convinced myself that I carried my weight "well." Right! By 2012, I had exceeded 300 pounds. As a pastor, I was embarrassed and ashamed. Angie secretly feared the day when I wouldn't be around and she would be left alone to raise our four children. For years, I had yo-yo dieted. Eventually I lost hope that I would ever be at a reasonable weight and have lasting health. That's when a retired pastor friend told me he was a health coach. I knew I needed help - I couldn't do it on my own - and I told him to sign me up! And our lasting transformation began! Now we are thankful to help people achieve their optimal health goals, one healthy habit at a time. You have people all around you who love you and want you to be healthy as the years pass. Outreach Pastor

James served with Christ’s Church in Jacksonville, Florida (formerly Mandarin Christian Church) from 1994 to 2006. During his tenure the church grew from 1,200 to more than 3,600 in average worship attendance. He originally went to Christ’s Church to pioneer their small group ministry which in 2006 totaled more than 200 small groups and included more than 2,000 adults each week. For more than seven years he guided their discipleship efforts which included men’s, women’s, singles, and adult education ministries. In his last five years with Christ’s Church, James provided primary leadership for the outreach and evangelism efforts for Christ’s Church and was responsible for the membership process which saw the addition of some 1,800 new members and more than 1,400 baptisms under his leadership.
