I served the University of Montevallo as Director of University Relations. Montevallo is a nationally-recognized liberal arts institution that offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs and that has been recognized as the #1 Master’s level institution in Alabama for five years. I served as the institution’s chief marketing and communications officer, responsible for the overall direction and oversight for strategic initiatives and tactical programs and campaigns designed to advance the University with its numerous constituencies, internally and externally. I was responsible for the management of a multi-faceted operation that functioned as an “internal agency” to campus-based clients, and I provided leadership and direction for direct staff reports in the areas of media and community relations, creative services, photography, and strategic marketing. My role involved extensive work in fiscal planning and budget management, as well as analysis of “return” and effectiveness of University Relations activities and projects. At a more granular level, my team was responsible for the “public-facing” representation of the University with regards to our web, social media, and institutional awareness efforts, and I served as Montevallo’s spokesperson for media and other external inquiries. My group also facilitated the design, production, and distribution of University publications such as the alumni magazine, the academic catalog, and recruitment materials (to name only a few).
