      James is a shareholder of AgFirst NZ , New Zealand’s largest and most diverse grouping of agricultural and horticultural consultancy businesses. AgFirst delivers a wide range of services to farmers, growers and agribusiness. James is also a partner in AgFirst Waikato and Manawatu-Whanganui, agricultural consultancy businesses which cover all areas of pastoral agribusiness. A key focus of his consultancy work is business planning, environmental management, farm supervision and agribusiness project work. James is Vice President of the New Zealand Fieldays Society, governing New Zealand’s largest agricultural Fieldays held at Mystery Creek each year. James was a 2014 participant in the UK Institute of Agriculture leadership programme, which provided invaluable insights into global agriculture. James is also a past president of the New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management, and a previous chairman of New Zealand Young Farmers. He was a grand finalist in the Young Farmer of the Year Contest in 1999 and again in 2002.
