The Hail Damage Creative Inquiry project was a project that utilized a scanner and specialized software to analyze hail damage and other damage caused by severe weather on vehicles for a car dealership. This specific Creative Inquiry Project (CI) was part of a partnership with the Ally Insurance Company in order to make the damage assessment process more efficient for the car dealerships that they insure. Prior to this project, the employees at the car dealerships assessed damage caused by severe weather on the vehicles using only their knowledge and visual means. As I previously stated, the purpose of this CI was to streamline this process by not only using a scanner and software to detect damage caused by severe weather, but to also provide a cost estimate of the damage as well. The project was divided into three subgroups: the Cost Efficient Group, the Scanner Group, and the Software Group. The Cost Group analyzed the funds for the project, the Scanner Group specialized in the use of the scanner, and the Software Group specialized in exploring different software and coding potential ones to be used in parallel with the scanner. As a result of the division into groups, there was a lot of team interaction in order to make sure information and findings were shared amongst the teams. Towards the end of the project, a presentation was developed by the three teams and presented to Ally with the recommendations of the team as a whole as to how Ally should proceed. Show less
