During my internship, I was assigned to the Fletcher and Acciona Puhoi to Warkworth Motorway Project where I predominantly worked in the Quality Control and Works Completion team. My main role on the project was to revise the project ITP’s (Inspection test plans) so they were easier for on-site staff to use and coincided with the frequently updated project specifications. This role taught me the importance of quality control and the strict nature of working under the projects Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract. When I was not working in Quality Control I was exposed to the many aspects and the processes of running a large-scale project. I supervised onsite jobs and sub-contractors alongside Site Engineers or attended client meetings with the senior leadership team.

Over my time with Fulton Hogan, I was exposed to a wide range of experiences and I was taught a huge range of practical and technical engineering skills. I worked as part of the onsite engineering team on the Wynnum Road Upgrade Corridor Project in East Brisbane. Initially, I was working in quality assurance and doing design and technical drawing reviews where I resolved design and development problems in a team. As my time progressed I was quickly given more leadership roles including scheduling all onsite pours and inspections, supervising contract staff and being a point of contact for the project's water & sewer sub-contractor. This position lead me to making major onsite design and practical decisions. When not doing on-site duties I would spend my time doing monetary claims for the jobs variations with Aston Consult. This job had me investigating the previous site variation works, compiling this evidence and putting together claim letters and spreadsheets to present to the client.
