I also assisted my supervisor in researching potential policy positions in order to prepare the Representative for committee hearings and votes. Working for Representative Robinson instigated my interest in state politics, as it helped me gain a better understanding of the impacts state legislatures have on the everyday lives of constituents. While at BP for America's Washington D.C. office, I served the Communications Department. In this capacity, I collaborated with other interns and full time associates on BP's US Economic Impact Report. I also spent much of the summer working with my team to write and revise the biographies of each person who served on the executive team for both internal and external use. When not working on these two projects, I was often tasked with attending congressional hearings on Capitol Hill in order to ensure BP's Government Relations team was aware of any legislative changes in the works. As a research assistant on Ohio State's Educational Governance and Accountability Project, I focused on using electoral data to measure the impact of local political action on school board elections. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this team, as I was able to be part of a project whose primary focus was to promote democratic accountability of local leaders whose decisions directly impact the education of coming generations. Specifically, my role was to collect, analyze, and then re-format electoral data using Catalyst so that the data could be analyzed by the project leads. Show less
