Artist's Assistant
-
Nov 2014 - Feb 2015
Working as an artist’s assistant allowed me to see first-hand the practice of an established artist. I assisted with the day to day running of the studio, liaising with high profile clients, and making sure that materials and equipment was organised and in working order. I also assisted by ordering and picking up materials, hanging and installing high end art work ready for exhibition, bouncing ideas back and forward with the artist and creating concept sketches. Working in this way tested my concentration and attention to detail to ensure that the finished work was museum quality.

Short Listed Artist
-
Jun 2013 - Jun 2013
I was a short listed artist for the Norwich Bishops Art Prize. This enabled me to be involved in a second exhibition outside the university degree show. The brief was to create a piece/ set of art work related to darkness & light. We could interpret the brief in what ever was we saw fit and when the opening night of the exhibition came, it was great to see so many different practitioners from different creative backgrounds all tackling the brief in a completely different way. Volunteer
-
Jul 2012 - Aug 2012
After my second year of study I travelled to Asia to volunteer in one of the poorest districts in Cambodia. Preparing for a large trip like this took planning, organisation and time management. My responsibilities whilst volunteering at The Hope Agency were to plan and teach daily English lessons to children of various age groups and skill levels. I was also involved in the daily arts and crafts workshop.Other responsibilities included labour work to help with the expansion of the school. This was an enduring task that required teamwork and determination. Building a road, walls and planting trees were just some of the challenges we faced to make safer and greater opportunities for the children.

Graphic Design Assistant
-
Sep 2006 - Sep 2006
In 2006 I did work experience in the graphic design department of the Army Barracks in my home town. During my time there I worked on scanning and re touching archival documents such as schematics. I was made responsible for making various signs for areas of the Barracks and making sure they were ready for collection. I was also given the task of making posters for upcoming events and was given the opportunity to work on my own personal projects to advance my skills in Photoshop.
