When I was CEO of RespectAbility, I had the pleasure of working with Jake Stimell for more than a year. He is a wonderful person, team player, and a talented young professional. He was originally hired as an apprentice. However, he was quickly recruited to serve on our permanent staff where he recruited, trained and placed leaders with disabilities as speakers with RespectAbility’s National Disability Speakers Bureau (NDSB). Jake is an exceptional listener, learner, and partner to organizations that want to advance their success in diversity, equity, inclusion and access. He connects talented speakers with disabilities to organizations (nonprofits, corporations and educational institutions) seeking disability training. While he is young and relatively new in this field, he really impresses people with his drive and commitment to truly meeting their needs and achieving success. I had the pleasure of working with Jake on numerous conferences, trainings and other events. Topics included on every aspect of accessibility, as well as on issues such as disability and climate change, public policy and many other topics. He did a great job in creating accessible PowerPoints and managing the technology for many of the online events. Jake is also a solid writer and someone who is willing to give a hand to his co-workers. He is a kind person who works well under pressure, as well as when there are many tasks in front of him. He has already managed dozens of successful trainings while building a true fee-for-service model that can help the organization be sustainable while achieving its mission. I highly recommend Jake.

I highly recommend Jake Stimell for any position he seeks. I supervised Jake as a fellow for nearly three months, while I was the Director of Community Outreach and Impact for RespectAbility. In this capacity, Jake was enthusiastic, earnest, and contentious. A quick study, he took direction well, was always ready to take on new tasks and challenges, and has a good sense of humor and serious work ethic. Jake asked questions when he was uncertain, and respectfully shared alternative approaches when appropriate. Jake's knowledge of disability inclusion and advocacy is highly attuned, and he deeply cares about this mission. Over time, given the trust that he earned, I often delegated Jake to take on tasks, including rehearsals with speakers and calls with clients. Aware of my imminent departure from RespectAbility, and based on Jake's proven abilities, I trained him to be able and ready to take on managing the National Disability Speakers Bureau, which I built from the ground up. I was able to leave with the knowledge that the events in process and the speakers with whom I have close rapport were all in caring and capable hands. I look forward to tracking Jake's professional trajectory. Any organization will be most wise and fortunate to bring Jake Stimell -- a young professional with the utmost integrity and outstanding work ethic -- on board.
