As a researcher, I’ve participated in three different projects: Software development for robotic arms [9 months] • Development of a Unity 3D program that allows the user to send high-level commands to a pair of robotic arms through a GUI. • Programming of the middle and low-level software to control the robotic arms, using ROS (Robot Operating System) in Ubuntu (with C++ scripts), and LabView in Windows, developing also the UDP communication interface between the two OS. Auggmed (European H2020 project) [6 months] • Development of the communication interface between a haptic vest and a virtual reality environment programmed in Unity 3D, with C# scripts, including some functionalities to manage certain events of the environment. • Programming some functionalities for the microprocessors used in the haptic vest, using the MPLAB IDE and programming in C. • Software version control using GIT. Research in 3D reconstruction for solar concentrators [3 months] • Research and documentation of the state-of-the-art technologies for 3D reconstruction of solar concentrators in order to measure the proper positioning of its parts. • Simulation in Gazebo, using ROS, to prove the capability of a planar LIDAR to reconstruct a 3D model of a solar concentrator from multiple measurements, working together with an IMU. The plugins of the simulation were programmed in C++. • Field demonstrations of the use of a planar LIDAR to test its behavior measuring the mirrors of the solar concentrator. Show less
