The Equalization Department advises and assists the County Board of Commissioners in equalizing property tax assessments across townships and cities in Houghton County. We maintain property tax record cards, digital records, digital and paper maps, GIS maps for the County, and other State of Michigan forms. We maintain databases of compiled data using BS&A and Laredo software. We categorize and analyze sales data from deeds and other property transfer documents, conducting two year sales and one year appraisal studies meeting State of Michigan guidelines and laws. We assist local and county treasurers and assessors with assessment and tax roll preparation. We assist local municipalities with State of Michigan form L-4029 and other annual forms. And we coordinate various programs and directives between the Michigan State Tax Commission and Department of Treasury with local unit assessors, townships, cities, and villages. Show less

Worked as a team under a professor in the University of Michigan School of Public Health on five separate research studies. Independently conducted literature reviews, researched and designed study measures and methodologies, collected field and observational data, built surveys in Qualtrics, analyzed data using SPSS, and wrote and edited research manuscripts. Additionally I am the second author of both: “High Ringxiety: Attachment anxiety predicts experiences of phantom cell phone ringing” published in Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking. doi:10.1089/cyber.2015.0406 "Bad vibrations? Cell phone dependency predicts phantom communication experiences." published in Computers in Human Behavior. doi.org/10.1016/j.chb.2017.01.017 Show less

Over the summer I managed a classroom of 25+ students in grades 6th–12th who had failed at least one class during the year. This program was focused on helping students catch up to their peers and preparing them for the following year’s classes.
