Kelly Richardson, MPE

I give Jahnai my highest recommendation. Some attributes that come to mind when I think of Jahnai are that she is professional while not taking herself too seriously. She is compassionate about others, is extremely dedicated, and is able to juggle many projects while still being an exceptional role model and mentor. Her sense of humor is enlightening and unique; one that is adept to make gloomy days turn into even brighter days. Hughes is eminently approachable and goes out of her way to engage and build positive rapport with each student. All things considered, I could go enduringly on and on about Jahnai; however, these are the main things that remarkably stood out to me.

Marc Hutchins

Jahnai is an attentive and compassionate professional, focused on the needs of her students and colleagues. She is tireless driven to see her students succeed as both educators and community leaders.

This role includes advising Liberal Studies undergraduate students, mentoring and advising Teacher Credential (fifth-year program) students, and monitoring and advising Master of Arts in Teaching students. Reporting for this position includes Liberal Studies Capstone, Program Reviews, CTC Accreditation reporting, Title II reports, ADS reports, and aggregating data from all program surveys (as well as creating those surveys). In 2019, I was also a part of the Commission on Teacher Credentialing site visit that occurred on campus, which resulted in full accreditation of our program. The preparation for this accreditation included multi-year reporting, building of an internal website housing evidence, and making accommodations for the team coming in from all over the state of California.
