LOLA Event Staffing is a UK wide promotional staff agency and event staffing agency. A London - based promotional agency that provides fantastic promotional staff, event staff, hosts & hostesses and catering staff for a wide range of unique parties, product launches, conferences and events. I was able to work in various departments, learning new skills and facing day to day challenged in an events company. For the first 6 months I worked with accounting and can now confidently use the accounting software, Sage 50 accounts to prepare and send invoices. I was also responsible for the social media accounts for the company and using social media effectively to promote business and engagement. The latter part of the year I was an account manager for the promotions team where I would be dealing with staff and client enquiries. I was managing and staffing over 70 promotional events a week for a range of clients. Being a part of this company meant that I had practical on experience on site as a manager and a staff member at venues such as Wembley stadium and Claridges Hotel. The main point I can take from my placement year is that I now understand how the tiniest of detail, such as if the staff have matching ties can make such a difference to the aesthetics of the event and how important getting these details correct to enhance the consumer experience and satisfaction. I have also learnt that It is so important to adapt your approach depending on who you are communicating with is so important to make sure communication is effective. One highlight was that due to my pro-active attitude and performance at an event, I was asked to work for the particular client abroad for 4 weeks as their supervisor and hostess for conferences. This involved working alongside three age groups ranging from 3 months to 5 years. The main role was to: create a fun, interactive and safe environment for the children also ensuring that you and all members of staff are following the policies and procedure of early year’s foundation stage and Ofsted regulations. As I was never working with just one age group I would have to be flexible in my roles. From working here I gained a safeguarding children certificate. I was responsible for being at the front of house taking tickets and providing general admission information to the public. Throughout the day my role changed and I was then assisting the lost children system where attention to detail was really important as would have to provide all children with wristbands with the parents contact details. I volunteered for a charity family fun day where some of my roles were helping the set up plus the organization of a stall called ‘Touch and Feel’. Feedback received was that I had a natural ability to communicate with children and my high level of enthusiasm throughout the day. Prom Events Organiser

Being a part of the prom committee meant working together as a team to organise the leaver’s prom for over 180 students. Time management was crucial here as we had to balance our meetings and goals between our own school work. Working alongside suppliers improved my interpersonal and negotiating skills. The feedback received was really positive and this lead me to organise our sixth form prom two years later, this time I was team leader, due to my high leadership skills and involvement before therefore I was trusted to provide creativity and knowledge of how to put on a smooth and efficient event. I was asked to continue my Christmas temporary role to a part time sales advisor on the men’s and children’s wear. Weekly meetings would be based on reaching targets of opening store accounts and receiving feedback from customers about going that ‘extra mile’. Due to the expectations, I had to be motivated to push these sales and be creative in ways I can approach the range of customers to reach these goals. The main responsibility was to ensure that every party, we would reach the centres and most importantly the parents’ expectations.
