I have had the privilege and opportunity to know Jade for the past three years. I was Jade’s assistant basketball coach at Colorado College for the 2018-2019 season and have been a friend and mentor to her since. In these three years of knowing Jade, I have come to know the person she is; I am consistently inspired by her drive, passion and perspective she carries with her in approaching her craft and her life. She truly is one of a kind. Some of the things I most respect about coaching Jade are her consistency, competitive spirit and drive to always continue growing. Jade was fearless on the court and it never wavered. The way she showed up for herself, her teammates and her staff was unparalleled. Her competitive spirit allowed us to compete game after game, inspired her teammates to do the same, and moved me alongside her to always bring my best. She consistently worked on her craft outside of allotted practice time while simultaneously playing goalkeeper for D1 Colorado College Soccer and maintaining good grades in an Ivy-league-like environment. Jade has always strived to be great. In getting to know Jade after our time together at Colorado College, I have grown to love her even more as a friend. She and I connect often about what she is going through as a captain and leader for her new team at Southeastern University. Her team - like all of us this year - has faced some adversity and she has had the opportunity to lead them through it. Once again, I am in awe of her brave and loving spirit. She brings people together around the same common goal and/or vision by encouraging honest and transparent dialogue, and showing love for the process in order to come out better in the end. It has been a joy to connect with this genuine and honest leader. Not only is Jade a fierce competitor, but a fierce creative as well. I believe that Jade’s mind and her eye, as well as her talent and ability to connect with others, put her in a position to be an invaluable asset to any team she serves.
