Residential Development team within the Real Estate Department. Supporting a range of clients from regional house builders, developers, senior living and retirement, and private individuals. Being solely responsible for registering trademarks for a client through the IPO. • During a period of time assisting the litigation department, I undertook appropriate work on client files, maintained client relations through interviews and assistance at court, prepared bundles for court, and provided general support to fee earners. I also developed a working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. • I regularly undertook ad-hoc projects and legal research in specific areas supporting the relevant department and fee earner. • I created and implemented a marketing strategy for the firm, an opportunity I have taken on with much determination, maintaining Gales offline reputation and online presence. • Organising participation of key events in the local area, which maintains client interaction and publicity for the firm.

Pathways to Law Work Experience

May 2010 - May 2010
After being successfully chosen to take part in the Pathways to Law Programme, I had the opportunity to gain experience at Blake Lapthorn. I shadowed a Solicitor in their Private Client department. I gained a valuable insight into the daily workings of a large national law firm, at one of their local offices. As part of my experience I assisted with the filing process, collating documents and undertaking important legal research into confusing concepts. My work experience with Hurleys law firm was an opportunity for me to gain an understanding of how a law firm operated as well as the mechanisms of the criminal justice process. Whilst at Hurleys I shadowed a Solicitor in a criminal trial. It was a fast paced experience which included preparing comprehensive case files, accurate note taking and attending court with both Solicitor and Counsel.
