Jacqui is an authentic leader who builds high performing and engaged teams through strong communication and creating a sense of belonging. She does this by connecting strategy to day to day work (from senior to junior roles, individually and for teams), quickly identifying people’s strengths and maximising these, and intuitively understanding what different people’s needs are and meeting or exceeding these to enable them to thrive at work. During the two year period Jacqui was my manager, she quickly understood how to support me to be the best version of myself, including providing helpful and honest feedback to accelerate my development.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jacqui over the last 7 or so years, initially as a colleague on a NZ leadership team, and then later as peers on a regional team.       My Masters Project gave me the opportunity to work on a purpose driven issue in an industry that was new to me (except as a consumer!). I applied a design thinking methodology and the tools of user centred design to the significant challenges of sustainability (and overconsumption/underutilisation) in the fashion industry. My research question was “How might service based fashion solutions and emerging and disruptive technology (EDT) combine to influence the consumption behaviors of female fashion consumers?” Through this project I built many new capabilities which included the application of disruptive technologies, consumer research, ideation, rapid prototyping and user centred design. I have now successfully completed the Masters program and in addition to continuing to push forward a novel idea which evolved from my consumer research and feedback, I am now applying these new tools to the People and Culture space.
