  This position involved research into small remote-controlled foam planes with high thrust-to-weight ratios called fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Over the summer, I simulated the behaviour of a fixed-wing agile UAV under different acrobatic maneuver commands and control system architectures using MATLAB/Simulink, QGroundControl, and Gazebo software. I deepened my understanding of C++ and object-oriented programming to better understand the PX4 UAV software architecture run by the Pixhawk microcontroller. I learned about lithium-polymer batteries and connectors for servomotors, AC motors, ESCs, and radio receivers. I did troubleshooting on Pitot airspeed sensors used for experiments and on jittery servo motors. I performed flight tests with different pre-programmed acrobatic maneuvers and analyzed the resulting flight logs. Show less

  In this position, I worked as part of a team to enrich the academic and social experience of Bioengineering undergraduate students. I organized a three-day trip to Toronto for 35 students to visit three companies and a research hub operating in the biotechnology sector. I researched the companies, reached out to them, coordinated visit times, and adjusted to unforeseen changes when one company dropped out. I booked hotel rooms and organized transportation to Toronto, set an itinerary, and selected restaurants. I also helped coordinate a social with graduate students from the University of Toronto.
