Over the many years that I have had the pleasure to know Jackie, she has proven time and time again that she is the definition of a true and genuine mentor. My interactions with Jackie included, but were not limited to, working in the Office of Student services under her, serving as a student leader for various programs she advised (Deans Host, Transitional Mentors, Education House Resident Assistant, Orientation), and as a student in the School of Education at Boston University. When I first met Jackie, she saw my potential and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, reach for the opportunities that she knew I was capable of, use my strengths to my advantage, and always strive for my best. While she always pushed and encouraged me to become a better student, and ultimately a better teacher, she always had my best interest at heart and never pushed me to go for anything I wasn’t ready for. I could always rely on her to check in on my academics and professional work, but also to check in on me. She always wanted to make sure that I was ok, had a positive school and life balance, and was allowing myself to think about my own health. She truly knew the balance of positive self-care and academic and professional achievement. Throughout my time working with Jackie, I knew that I was able to come to her with any questions that I may have, no matter how small, and I would be able to learn and grow from her expertise and knowledge. Jackie taught her mentees the valuable skill of evaluating decision making, instilling the notion to weigh all options and remember that decisions can change and you can always explore new opportunities. Working as an employee in her office, Jackie took the time to get to know me as an individual and learn about my interests as well. As a result, she provided me with opportunities to use my talents and expertise. Sometimes that would be public speaking and providing tours to prospective students or using my knowledge of graphic design to create original invitations for large scale events. Jackie put a lot of trust in her student workers and student leaders she advised not only with assisting in the background but in coordinating and leading events too, highlighting their strengths no matter their position. Jackie invests all of her energy into the people around her and would be an invaluable asset to any team seeking to support and help students flourish and follow their passions.

To whom it may concern: My name is Kelly Proulx and I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Jacqueline (Jackie) Yun for the past 13 years. From 2006 until 2012, I completed my undergraduate studies and then worked at the Boston University School of Education, where, in her capacity as Director of Student Services at the Boston University School of Education, Jackie worked as my mentor and direct supervisor. Her zest for life and excitement for the field of education drew me to Boston University when I was 18 years old and to the higher education profession when I was 22 years old. I believe I have a unique perspective on Jackie, as I have been mentored by Jackie both as a student leader and as her employee in the Office of Student Services. I truly cannot say enough good things about Jackie. As a mentor and a manager, Jackie is encouraging and supportive. She challenges you with high expectations and helps you set them for yourself. As an undergraduate and then as a new professional, I was eager to be a leader, take on responsibilities, and learn to navigate the higher education world. Jackie recognized the potential in me immediately and provided me with multiple opportunities for learning and growth. During the summer that I was an undergraduate orientation leader, Jackie empowered me to advise the incoming crop of new students on their first semester classes and allowed me to evaluate some of their transfer credit. The other orientation leaders did not get to touch transfer credit, but I did. I had the trust and support of a mentor who allowed me to try new things and learn from my mistakes. In the years I worked with her as a professional, Jackie allowed me to manage the work-study students, plan events, write speeches for the Deans, write new language for our school policies and procedures, and even sent me to committee meetings across BU as the School of Education representative. To prepare for these responsibilities, she taught me to create event-specific checklists, handbooks, and form emails; things I still use in my teaching practice today. At every turn, she gave me professional advice, like to
